This project is an interactive LED installation in 23 Springs Class AA Commercial Office Building and Retail. It fuses digital media and physical form to reimagine the natural beauty and structure of granite as an experiential artwork. Drawing inspiration from the material’s geological textures, layering, and resilience, the piece bridges nature, architecture, and computation. It aims to provoke wonder by translating something fundamentally “solid” into a responsive, living environment.

This project employs a six-layer generative media system rendered on an 8K canvas, powered by a custom-built computer cluster for real-time playback and synchronization. Each layer contains dynamic visual and sonic elements, blending into a seamless, high-performance audiovisual environment that evolves throughout a 24-hour cycle.

The installation integrates motion and presence sensors, allowing visitors’ movements to trigger organic changes—like blossoms unfolding or light pulses rippling through digital habitats. These subtle interactions make the environment feel alive and responsive, creating a dialogue between human presence and the virtual biome.

Functioning as a living clock, “Granite” transitions every quarter hour through distinct visual and sonic worlds—Sprout, Growth, and Pollinate—each inspired by natural phenomena. From microscopic textures to vast surreal landscapes, viewers journey through evolving worlds that evoke time, transformation, and renewal within an immersive architectural canvas.
