Between Empty

Between Empty is a multiplayer VR and PC-accessible virtual world inhabited by mirror beings who perceive only through reflections on their bodies—color, shape, and light on their body become their emotions and proof of existence.

Players join as mirror beings, sharing a space where adding or removing mirror shards instantly alters their perception and surroundings. While everyone inhabits the same realm, each player’s view is unique, exploring the interplay between self and environment and the balance of dependence and independence. The PC world-building is complete, and VR development is now underway.

  • Developed in Unreal Engine 5

  • Integrated AI-driven 3D modeling to create all abstract stone formations within the dark environment, with custom material refinement.

  • Character animations sourced from Mixamo and custom motion capture using the OptiTrack system
